HMD Global might be prepping another low-cost smartphone for 2019, according to a new filing on the FCC website. Referenced as the Nokia TA-1124, the unannounced smartphone features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 439 chipset. Announced as Qualcomm’s first 12nm processor, the Snapdragon 439 is an octa-core processor that goes up to 2.0Ghz, supports up to 8-megapixel dual cameras, and can capture up to 1080p video at 30fps. FCC Elsewhere, the Nokia TA-1124 features dual 13MP and 5MP rear cameras, an 8MP selfie shooter, 32GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, and a 5.99-inch display. The phone also features a 3,400 to 3,500mAh battery, and a presumably clean version of Android 9 Pie. Editor's PickBest Nokia phones — what are your options? Microsoft bought the company in 2013, deciding to kill the Nokia brand … What’s interesting is that most of the specs align with those of the Nokia 3.1 Plus. The only differences between the Nokia TA-1124 and Nokia 3.1 Plus are the processor and RAM count. That means the Nokia TA-1124 could be a variant of the Nokia 3.1 Plus that makes its way to different regions. The Nokia TA-1124 could also be the newest entrant to Google’s Android One program. The program guarantees at least two years of major Android updates and three years of security patches. At this point, HMD Global might wait until CES in January to announce the phone.
