This week in Android: It’s all about the foldables

This week had one theme to it — foldable phones. We saw not one, but two folding phones come out this week, and we went hands-on with the world’s first foldable from Royole. At Samsung’s developer conference, we saw its new infinity flex display. Google is on board too. At its own developer conference, Google announced official support for “foldables” will be baked into Android going forward. 2019 looks to be the year of the foldable, because LG will likely throw its hat in the ring as well. Gimmick, or way of the future? You decide. We also published our full review of the OnePlus 6T this week too! Also, we have a low-light camera shootout between two of the best in the business, some notched displays from Samsung, and oh yeah, we launched our Best of Android Reader’s Choice tournament as well. A sign of things to come? 28:30 – Samsung reveals its upcoming foldable phone We got a good look at Samsung’s upcoming foldable phone/tablet/device/whatever. 35:00 – We could see the LG foldable phone at CES in January This is a holdover from last week, but LG looks to be unveiling a foldable smartphone at CES 2019. 36:40 – Hands-on with the world’s first foldable smartphone We go hands-on with the first foldable smartphone, and it isn’t from Samsung or LG.
