As Android Pie rolls out to more devices by the day, it appears the Xiaomi Mi A2 might be the latest to join the fray. A beta ROM has surfaced over at XDA Developers indicating that the company is getting ready to roll out an update to the latest version of Android. The Mi A2, as you might remember, is the company’s second Android One-based device. The mid-range smartphone was well regarded for its competitive performance and a rather good camera. Editor's PickAndroid 9 Pie update tracker: What we know so far (Updated November 12) The next major version of Android, Android 9.0 Pie, has already made its way to the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL. Google announced this official Android 9.0 update on August … The beta update appears to include Google’s November security patch. All the Android Pie features, including Adaptive Battery and new navigation gestures, are also included as you would expect. Since this is an Android One device, there’s no MIUI here of course. Since this is non-final software, user reports suggest the ROM does have a few bugs including issues with ambient brightness and the system dark theme not working. There have also been mentions of system UI lockups. By all means, this appears to be an early beta, so we don’t advise using this on your main smartphone. If you still want to give it a try, you will need an unlocked bootloader to flash the OTA ROM. You will then need to use TWRP to get it up and running. In case flashing via TWRP fails, there’s also an option to use fastboot to flash individual partitions. You can follow through to the link for a full tutorial to flash the ROM on your phone, but we would highly recommend waiting for Xiaomi to iron out the bugs and roll out an official OTA.
