HMD Global launches Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus, and Nokia 8 Sirocco in India

HMD Global - Nokia In a press conference in New Delhi, HMD Global surprised many by launching its entire 2018 portfolio (for now) in India in one go. The company reiterated the new Nokia 1 that was launched last week, and then went on to launch the second-generation Nokia 6 as well as the two devices unveiled at the Mobile World Congress a few weeks ago – the Nokia 7 Plus and the Nokia 8 Sirocco. Except for the Nokia 1, all three devices – Nokia 6, Nokia 7 Plus, and Nokia 8 Sirocco – are part of Google’s Android One initiative. This will allow users to experience pure, bloatware-free Android with timely OS upgrades and security patches. Nokia 6 (2018) Nokia 6 The new Nokia 6 is now powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor – and upgrade from the Snapdragon 430 that we saw on the last generation one – and packs in the OZO Audio spatial recording technology and Dual-sight mode (remember, bothies?) with ZEISS optics – two features that were introduced with the Nokia 8 last year. There’s also fast charging via USB Type-C port this time around.  Nokia 6 (2018) Operating SystemAndroid 8.0 Oreo Display5.5-inch Full HD 16:9 aspect ratio 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass ProcessorQualcomm Snapdragon 630 RAM4GB Storage64GB Expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card Front Camera8MP f/2.0 aperture Rear Camera16 MP f/2.0 aperture Battery3,000mAh Dimensions148.8 x 75.8 x 8.15mm Weight172g Priced at ₹16,999 ($261) and available in three colors, the new Nokia 6 will be available at Nokia Mobile Shop and select retail outlets like Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, Croma and Reliance starting April 6. Nokia 7 Plus Nokia 7 Plus The Nokia 7 Plus is a fairly significant upgrade over the vanilla Nokia 7 and is the first phone in the company’s portfolio that sports a taller display with an 18:9 aspect ratio – a Full HD+ 6-inch IPS LCD panel. The Nokia 7 Plus looks like a premium device despite its mid-range price-tag and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. The move over to a Snapdragon 660 mobile processor, up from the Snapdragon 630, offers a little more CPU grunt in the form of four Kryo 260 cores. The biggest upgrade from the Nokia 7 is in the camera department. The Nokia 7 Plus sports a dual camera setup at the back with ZEISS optics, and the 12MP sensor is paired with a 13MP telephoto lens. The front-facing camera, meanwhile, clocks in at 16 MP.  Nokia 7 PlusNokia 7 Display6.0-inch LCD 2160x1080 resolution (Full HD+) 403 ppi 18:9 aspect ratio5.5-inch IPS LCD 1920x1080 resolution (Full HD) 554 ppi 16:9 aspect ratio ProcessorQualcomm Snapdragon 660 (64-bit octa-core, 2.2 GHz)Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 (64-bit octa-core, 2.2 GHz) GPUAdreno 512Adreno 540 RAM4 GB4 GB Storage64 GB64 GB CamerasRear: Dual 12 MP and 13 MP telephoto with PDAF and Carl Zeiss optics Front: 13 MP f/2.0Rear: 16 MP with Carl Zeiss optics Front: 13 MP f/2.0 Battery3,800 mAh3,000 mAh IP ratingIP 54IP 54 SoftwareAndroid 8.0Android 7.1.1 Dimensions158.4 x 75.6 x 7.9 mm141.2 x 71.5 x 7.9 mm Available in two colors – Black and White – with copper accents, the Nokia 7 Plus is priced at ₹25,999 ($399) and will go on sale starting April 30 with pre-bookings starting from April 20. It will be available online on Amazon.in and Nokia Mobile Shop, as well as from select retail outlets like Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, Croma and Reliance. Nokia 8 Sirocco Nokia 8 Sirocco The Nokia 8 Sirocco looks like a piece of art, and the company’s flagship smartphone features wireless charging and an IP67 water resistance rating, but ditches the 3.5 mm headphone jack. It combines last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The 5.5-inch Quad HD pOLED display comes with 16:9 aspect ratio, so it’s shorter and squatter than most of the other phones in the market.  Nokia 8 SiroccoNokia 8 Display5.5-inch P-OLED 2560 x 1440 resolution (QHD) 534 ppi 16:9 aspect ratio5.3-inch IPS LCD 2560 x 1440 resolution (QHD) 554 ppi 16:9 aspect ratio ProcessorQualcomm Snapdragon 835 (64-bit octa-core, 2.5 GHz)Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 (64-bit octa-core, 2.5 GHz) GPUAdreno 540Adreno 540 RAM6 GB4 / 6 GB Storage128 GB64 / 128 GB CamerasRear: Dual 12 MP f/1.75 1.4µm and 13 MP f/2.6 1.0µm telephoto with PDAF and Carl Zeiss optics Front: 5 MP f/2.0Rear: Dual 13 MP f/2.0 1.12µm with PDAF and Carl Zeiss optics Front: 13 MP f/2.0 Battery3,260 mAh Quick Charge 4+ Qi Wireless Charging3,000 mAh Quick Charge 3.0 Connectivity802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (MIMO) Bluetooth 5.0 GPS/AGPS+GLONAS+BDS NFC ANT+802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (MIMO) Bluetooth 5.0 GPS/AGPS+GLONAS+BDS NFC ANT+ SensorsFingerprint sensor, ALS/PS, G-sensor, E-compass, Gyro, Hall sensor, BarometerAmbient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, E-compass, Gyroscope, Fingerprint Sensor, Hall sensor, Barometer IP ratingIP 67IP 54 SoftwareAndroid 8.0Android 7.1.1 Dimensions140.93 x 72.97 x 7.5 mm151.5 x 73.7 x 7.9 mm The Nokia 8 Sirocco is the highest-end Android One device on the market, and is priced at ₹49,999 ($768).
