Galaxy S8, Note 8 owners can now add cat GIFs to Always On Display

Samsung's Always On Display Samsung wasn’t the first to bring an Always On Display to smartphones, being beaten by Nokia and LG, but it’s certainly trying to improve the feature. Now, the latest Always On Display update will allow you to add GIFs to your phone’s screen, Sam Mobile reports. The feature is applicable to the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 though, so those with older flagships or cheaper devices are left out for now. To grab the update, you’ll need to visit the Galaxy Apps store. From here, you need to tap the ellipsis in the top right corner (it’ll show a bubble with the number of pending updates if you haven’t updated in a while), then my apps > update and look for Always On Display. After all, we’d imagine that a constantly looping GIF would eat a chunk of battery life during the day. There is one caveat though, as Android Police reports that GIF support is only applicable if you’ve got the Oreo update. Otherwise, expect the phone to treat GIFs as still images, as per usual.
