The Huawei P11 might come with a 40 MP rear camera and 24 MP front camera

Well, this is exciting. Leaker Evan Blass has gotten his hands on some materials that indicate the Huawei P11 could come with an unprecedented camera setup. In a tweet published earlier today, which you can see below, it was suggested that the next device in Huawei’s P series could house a triple-lens, 40 MP rear camera setup with 5x hybrid zoom and a 24 MP selfie camera. The rumor is based on images from a digital artist working for “one of [Huawei’s] creative agencies” (it’s not clear how Blass happened upon them), which also reveal that the cameras may be once again co-engineered with photography company Leica. As for how the trio of rear lenses would be configured — in terms of sensor setup, aperture size etc — we can only speculate. Is the next Huawei P-series going to be an imaging powerhouse? A digital artist at one of the company’s creative agencies added these “PCE Series” ads to their portfolio — claiming 40MP, 3 lens rear (5x hybrid zoom) + 24MP selfie, all Leica-co-developed. — Evan Blass (@evleaks) December 6, 2017 Adding fuel to the fire, Blass says the images have now been removed from the source, which is generally an indication that the information is legit. Huawei was one of the early adopters in the recent dual-camera trend, introducing this setup with the Huawei P9 in April 2016. This camera also co-developed with Leica, who Huawei has partnered with for its major flagships’ camera tech ever since. Meanwhile, Huawei has been targetting AI-based improvements for its cameras recently — which, combined with the photography hardware mentioned above, could ensure that the P11 is one of the best phones for photographs that we’ll see in 2018.
