Google launches Datally app to manage and save mobile data

Google has announced the launch of a new app to help users understand, control, and save on their mobile data. Datally tracks data usage in real time and gives personalized recommendations on saving data along with notifications of public Wi-Fi spots available nearby. In a blog post, Caesar Sengupta, Vice President of the Next Billion Users initiative at Google, shared that the company had been testing Datally in the Philippines for the past few months allowing people to save up to 30 percent on their data. The app helps users understand your data usage on an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly basis and get personalized recommendations for how you can save more. Once you turn on the Data Saver bubble, the app blocks background data usage and tracks real-time data usage while using each of your apps. With one tap, you can block data if an app’s data usage gets out of control. Datally is released as part of Google’s Next Billion Users initiative which is focused on making Google products more useful and relevant in countries with limited mobile data usage and where majority of users have smartphones with lower-end hardware. The app is available globally, though.  Download Datally from Google Play Store
