Best of Android Reader’s Choice voting: LG G7 vs. Oppo Find X

Editor’s note: skip down the page if you’re looking for the next matchup, and to enter the giveaway! Hello Android Authority readers! It’s my pleasure to announce that while we’re finishing up testing for our annual Best of Android series, we’re going to be launching a Reader’s Choice award. We need YOU to decide which 2018 phones are the best, crowning one handset to reign supreme. An internal poll decided the seeding order, and all matchups were determined using a 24-unit bracket. This means that the most popular phones here got a first-round bye, but any phone has a chance to unseat these mobile devices head-to-head. Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page to cast your votes, and to enter our giveaway — the more you vote on our matchups, the more chances you get to win one of three winning phones! A graphic showing the bracket competition for Android Authority's Reader's Choice award.24 phones enter, one remains after a month of head-to-head competition. Every day, we’re going to be updating our Best of Android scoreboard with the winners from the previous day’s polling. Check back here every day for a new head-to-head matchup, and to see how badly your phone beat the competition! Once a final winner is determined, it’ll earn the coveted Android Authority Reader’s Choice Award. While we can’t guarantee that this is going to be the best smartphone of all time, the bracket competition is a fun way to blow off some steam and do what we came to Android Authority to do in the first place: argue about phones. Vote on our social channels, too! Instagram Twitter Facebook Matchup #2 results: Razer Phone 2 crushes Motorola Z3 As expected, the Razer Phone 2 is just too hot for a phone with modular accessories to handle. The Motorola Z3 has struck out. It’s not a bad phone, but I guess it’s just not what the people want in 2018. On every poll, the Razer Phone 2 obliterated the Z3, but not as badly as the OnePlus 6T blew the doors off the RED Hydrogen One did. With a score of roughly 69% to 31%, the sexier of the two phones made their statement in the user voting. This is a lot of fun, and I’m proud of our readers. I know that it’s very easy to care a whole lot about smartphones — myself included — and the tone in the comments has been encouraging! But I’ve been seeing some nastiness in some social channels. Chill out man, quit gettin’ mad at user polls. Matchup #4: LG G7 ThinQ vs. Oppo Find X This is a matchup that could have come much later in the competition, but I’m excited to see it nonetheless. In one corner, we have the LG G7 ThinQ— a phone with LG’s famed audio hardware, a cool speaker feature, and all sorts of goodies under the hood. In the other: the Oppo Find X — a creative-as-hell solution to the problem of having too much display for a front-facing camera. However, only the G7 ThinQ is available in the US, so the Oppo might have a tough hill to climb in this head to head. Why you should vote for the LG G7 ThinQ: LG’s Boombox speaker turns cavities into resonance chambers for your music.   [The G7 ThinQ] has a gorgeous super bright display, a great design, an excellent camera with AI, and a dedicated Google Assistant button. The audio experience we’ve come to know and love from LG has gotten even better with DTS:X and the new boombox speaker. …it certainly has the firepower to go toe-to-toe with the best smartphones available. LG deserves more attention from consumers and if you haven’t considered an LG device in the past, the LG G7 ThinQ wouldn’t be a bad place to start. —Lanh Nguyen Why you should vote for the Oppo Find X:   The Find X packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and a 3,730mAh battery. This kept the device running smoothly the entire week or so I had to use it, and I really didn’t notice any hiccups during this time… This feels like a second generation product in its first iteration, and I’m happy to see Oppo pushing the boundaries of smartphone design. I’m eager to see what Google and Samsung announce for the rest of 2018, but Oppo and Vivo are making other manufacturers seem pretty outdated. —David Imel Which phone wins?
