The smartphone is available now in the United States for the first time for only $80. The Alcatel 1 runs Android Go (Oreo edition) and can be purchased at Amazon.com. Back in June, we found out the Alcatel 1 was landing in Europe for 79 euros (~$92), making it the cheapest Android smartphone available with an 18:9 display. Today, the Alcatel 1 is available in the United States for the first time for an even lower price: $80 with free shipping for Amazon Prime members. The device is unlocked and runs on the Oreo version of the Android Go operating system. The Alcatel 1 features a 5-inch 18:9 display with a 960 x 480 resolution; a 5MP rear camera and 2MP selfie camera; a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6739 chipset running with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage; and a 2,000mAh battery. The same goes for the front-facing camera, which creates 5MP-esque shots on its 2MP sensor. The Alcatel 1 launched in three colors: Metallic Blue, Metallic Gold, and Metallic Black. Unfortunately, only the Metallic Black variant is available in America, at least so far. While the Alcatel 1 is certainly no powerhouse device, it delivers the basic necessities of the Android experience for literally a fraction of the cost of most flagship smartphones.
